A family business
Founded in 1930 by Laurence J Betts, the business is located at Church Farm, Offham, in the idyllic and fruitful county of Kent. Now in the hands of Stephen J Betts, the fourth generation of Betts to run the farm, the business continues to hold the same family values that have enabled them to deliver high quality produce for decades.
Nick Ottewell, Farm Director, is responsible for growing 30 different types of salad over 750 hectares of land, specialising in whole head lettuce, baby leaf salads and multi-leaf lettuce crops.
Always looking to surprise and delight their customers, L J Betts are continually researching and trialling new and exciting varieties of salad leaves, maintaining their position as an innovative market leader.
L J Betts are committed to sustainable farming and ensuring they are able to produce the highest quality salad, while protecting the environment for future generations. This is achieved through a combination of:
- Investment in new, energy efficient technologies
- Innovative farming practices
- Soil enrichment
- Schemes to encourage and protect wildlife
