Organised by the Springboard charity, the FutureChef competition teaches 12-16 years olds how to cook and develops their understanding of food and culinary skills, whilst providing opportunities for practical work experience in the hospitality industry.
Reynolds has previously lent its expertise to FutureChef in the form of its food development team, who have mentored and judged entrants. Reynolds also provides fresh produce for the finals.
Through our work with FutureChef, Reynolds has also developed a close relationship with Harlow’s Passmore Academy, of Channel 4’s Educating Essex fame, providing support through fresh produce donations, student training and mentoring,
Since 1980, Springboard has provided free careers advice, training and work experience for the young, unemployed and disadvantaged in order to deliver opportunities for sustainable employment, whilst offering post-employment mentoring to encourage career progression. Not only does Springboard help people into careers, it also boosts the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries by addressing skills shortages and attracting new talent.
Every other year, members of the Reynolds’ team, including Tony Reynolds, Managing Director, give up their traditional day of rest to run 10K for Springboard, raising valuable funds in the process.
In addition, Reynolds sponsors the vast majority of Springboard events, providing fresh produce for dinners, luncheons and other fund-raising opportunities.
Possibly the best known catering college in the UK, Reynolds has long been a supporter of this great industry institution and breeding ground for some of Britain’s best culinary talent.
Reynolds’ Chef Director Ian Nottage is an Alumni of Westminster Kingsway college and often returns in a judging capacity for many of the college’s culinary competitions.
Reynolds provides fresh produce to the college for various events throughout the year, including the Restaurant Show, and has taken students to visit Rungis Market in Paris to help educate them on the wonders of fresh produce. Students regularly attend training sessions and workshops at Reynolds’ National Distribution Centre.
As an industry ‘partner’ of the Craft Guild of Chefs, Reynolds works closely
with the organisation in a number of areas. Just one of the ways we lend our support is by helping to raise awareness of fresh produce within families at local schools, via educational workshops.
As well as providing free fresh produce to many Craft Guild events throughout the year, Reynolds is a founding sponsor of the Graduate Awards, now entering its 13th year.
Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger.
Reynolds supports the dedicated team at Action Against Hunger to raise urgently needed funds at Taste of London, providing various fresh produce items for their stall.
Reynolds also supports the charity by providing fresh produce for other fund-raising initiatives.
