Fire fighters from the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service accepted a £1,000 cheque from Reynolds yesterday, in support of the Fire Fighters Charity.

The Fire Fighters Charity is an independent charity that was set up 75 years ago after the Blitz, from a desire to help wounded fire fighters and to provide support to their families during World War II.  Today they are the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance the quality of life for serving and retired fire fighters, fire personnel and their families. The charity’s vision is to make a positive difference by supporting people in the fire and rescue community when they are in need. Over the years, they have helped hundreds of thousands of individuals by providing world-class treatment and support services.

The money was raised by employees during the recent Reynolds Family Open Day, an event which celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the opening of the National Distribution Centre at Waltham Cross. Reynolds’ suppliers and customers alike supported the day with generous donations, which allowed for a raffle to be held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research and the Fire Fighters Charity. The local fire service was kind enough to spend some time on-site with their bright red fire engine, which was very much appreciated by all.

Cheshunt’s Red Watch Commander Alan Wolfe received the cheque from Tony Reynolds, Managing Director, who commented, “The Fire Fighters charity is an incredibly worthwhile cause, and in my opinion one that deserves to be recognised for the great work that it does. It costs over £8 million every year to keep the Charity running, and they are completely reliant upon donations and fundraising. We are more than happy to support where and when we can.”
